Hi there! I’m Elias Rubin (they/she pronouns. I was born in sunny Los Angeles, California, before making the big trek to NYC. I graduated from NYU/Tisch (ETW), graduating in 2017 with a BFA in Drama. I write musical theatre, classical/contemporary theatre, and am a singer/songwriter. Some of my demos can be found on the “Music” page, and I’m releasing an EP soon!
I am an educator, specializing in theatre and Judaism. I currently teach Judaic studies in Synagogues across Manhattan, and have taught at one of my favorite places on earth, the URJ’s 6 Points Creative Arts Academy, as one of their Theatre Arts Mentors. I also writes “Jewsicals” (Jewish musicals), which takes the Torah portion of the week and turns it into a short musical number.
For the 2019-2020 school year, I will be leading a group of Jewish transgender and non-binary youth with Moving Traditions. The group will be held at Congregation Rodeph Sholom on the UWS. Feel free to shoot me an email to find out more!
